USCJ Board of Directors Training continues at Congregation Etz Hayim

On March 14, 2021, the CEH Board had its most recent training session as part of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (USCJ) Board of Directors Training Program that we began in September 2020. Thanks to Board members for taking time out of their schedules to attend these sessions and to provide insightful comments and feedback. And many thanks to Mike Stein, Dan Rosman, Jeanne Howard and Michael Rafky, who brought this valuable training program to CEH.

Through the training sessions, the Board has defined a set of expectations which clearly define the roles and responsibilities of Board members. Board members have considered, reviewed and revised committee descriptions to provide clear guidance to committee chairs and members about their roles in the community and expectations for achievement. The Board has also gone through a process of defining its own goals for the year, and in the process, learned a method that can help set future goals for the Board and the committees. This year the Board chose to work on the goals of visioning for the future, delegating work and empowering committees, defining clear roles and responsibilities, and creating a mechanism to ensure completion of tasks.

As the Leadership and Nominating Committee works on preparing the FY22 Board slate for CEH members to vote upon, these goals and maintaining the forward momentum on these improvements are a focus for the planning. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to leadership@etzhayim.net.
