A Sefer Torah is delicate and precious. While we take care of it well, sometimes we need to fix a letter here and there. This is an opportunity to fulfill the Mitzvah (commandment) of writing a Sefer Torah, by writing one letter with a soferet (Torah scribe).
We want to invite you and your family to this unique opportunity to help our community and engage in the experience of writing a Sefer Torah.
Each family will have a dedicated time slot with the soferet (Torah scribe) to help her fix one letter.

- Word – $180
- Verse – $360
- Aliyah – $540
- Column – $720
- Parsha – $1080
*Note that these donor levels are symbolic as actual repair with the soferet will be limited to a letter.
Outline of the day:
- 9:30 AM: Family Minyan
- 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Community members will be given a short time slot (3-5 minutes) to repair a letter in the Torah with a soferet.
- 12:00 PM: Ceremony celebrating our Torah repair completion.
More Information About Alexandra Casser, the Soferet:
Alexandra Casser has been a soferet and educator since 2010. She specializes in the restoration of antique Torah scrolls and is authorized by the Memorial Scrolls Trust. Alex studied under soferet Jen Taylor while attending Yeshivat Hadar in New York City, and quickly progressed to repairing tefillin and Torah scrolls. She has provided scribal services to dozens of Jewish communities from California to New York, from Wisconsin to Louisiana. She organizes the Women’s Tefillin Gemach, which provides low-cost tefillin to underserved members of the Jewish community, and the Stam Scribes collective of progressive sofrim and sofrot.
