CEH’s Legacy Giving Program

As our parents planted for us, let us sow the seeds that will make a difference for our children and grandchildren.

-Talmud Ta’anit 23a

Congregation Etz Hayim is our Jewish home: the place where we continue to create meaningful religious experiences, friendships and memories.  For over 75 years, Etz Hayim has sustained the Jewish community in Arlington.  We are working to ensure that the Congregation will continue to be active and serve its members for the next 75 years.  For that to happen, Etz Hayim needs and deserves our support.

And doing so is easy.  You can include Etz Hayim in your estate planning through your will or trust, or simply by updating your retirement plan, IRA, or life insurance beneficiary designation. If you would like to discuss doing so, please email us at treasurer@etzhyim.net

If you have already made provisions for including Etz Hayim in your estate planning and would like to inform us, please simply complete this declaration of intent and email or send it, or drop it off in the congregation office so that we may recognize your generosity.

Etz Hayim is a proud partner of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington’s “Create a Jewish Legacy” Program.

Book Dedications

Book Dedications

As is the tradition at Etz Hayim, each of our prayer books can contain a bookplate dedication honoring someone important to you. Dedications are lasting memorials and can be inscribed in honor of someone meaningful to you or can remain anonymous. Honor a loved one or mark a special occasion by dedicating a High Holiday Mahzor, Chumash, Shabbat Siddur, or weekday prayer book for a modest pledge.

Memorial Plaques

Our Memorial Alcove still has space for plaques honoring departed loved ones. These permanent tributes are a sacred way to remember those who came before us with a Yahrzeit light which is lit annually.

Tree of Life

The Tree of Life in our sanctuary continues to be popular with donors and is a beautiful and deeply meaningful adornment to our building. During our Grow Stronger Campaign last year, many leaves were added to our tree, but there is plenty of space for additional dedications. Celebrate a simcha or honor someone special with a leaf on our Tree of Life. With gold, silver, and bronze levels, each leaf is an expression of gratitude and connection.

Legacy Giving

The deepest commitment to the future of our congregation is reflected in the bricks leading up to our main entrance. These bricks bear the names of those who have made a lasting commitment to Etz Hayim’s future. Each brick is more than a marker — it is a promise to future generations. These donors have joined our Legacy Giving Program by including the congregation in their estate plans. There are many meaningful ways to participate, and every legacy gift creates an opportunity to inscribe your name along this walkway of enduring generosity. By joining our Legacy Giving Program, you help ensure that Etz Hayim continues to thrive for years to come.
