Tikkun Olam Update and Gratitude

Kudos to members of the CEH Community, youth and adults alike, who have done so much to address the needs of Arlington residents in this difficult time!

In addition to CEH members’ overwhelming participation in the MLK Day of Service and generous contributions to the clothing and food drives that the Social Action Committee (SAC) has sponsored over the months, members have independently responded to the needs of local NGOs and charities (see the SAC’s resource page), e.g., helping with food distributions, collecting personal hygiene and household cleaning products, and donating other “wish list” items. Thank you!  An impressive number of folks also have responded to Arlington county’s calls for assistance with vaccine delivery. Working directly with county government or through organizational affiliations such as Arlington Democrats, the Latino Caucus, the Ethiopian Community Development Council, and others, members have assisted seniors, non-native speakers, and those without internet to register for the vaccine. Members have volunteered to ferry non-drivers to and from vaccine locations throughout the county, and members have stepped forward to work inside the vaccine clinics, facilitating various administrative processes. Recognizing that many in Arlington remain wary of the vaccine, or in the dark about how or where to get it, CEH members also are continuing the legwork of distributing language-appropriate informational flyers in multi-unit affordable housing facilities.    We have an amazing community of caring people! If you would like to get involved, please contact SAC committee chair, Paula Levin-Alcorn at plevinal@gmail.com.
