Grandma Ada’s Banana Bread

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine (1 stick)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 ripe bananas (mashed or pureed)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • optional: chopped nuts and/or chocolate chips (a generous handful should be enough)

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Cream butter and sugar with electric mixer or wooden spoon.
  • Add 2 unbeaten eggs and mix well.
  • Mix 3 ripe bananas with 1 tsp baking soda and add to above.
  • Sift flour, baking powder, and salt and add to batter, mixing until all dry ingredients are absorbed.
  • Add optional ingredients if desired and mix.
  • Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes.
  • Let cool (if you have the discipline) and eat.
