The sage Shammai (1st century C.E.) most beautifully stated the vision for our synagogue in Pirkei Avot (Ethics of Our Ancestors):
Let the study of Torah be your primary occupation.
Say little, do much.
Greet each person with a smile.
At Congregation Etz Hayim, we strive to follow this sage advice.
Our Vision
We are a congregation of learners. We develop our Jewish identity by pursuing knowledge.
We are a community of professional staff and active volunteers who work together to create a well-run synagogue.
We are an inclusive Jewish community that welcomes people of different backgrounds and traditions. We foster a better world by constructively engaging in our broader community.
We respect each other and honor the contributions that each member brings to our community.
