WEEKLY UPDATE 2/9/09

Dear Parpar families,

We started our Tu B'Shevat unit and are learning a lot about trees and the cycle of life for plants.   We planted some pumpkin seeds in our own made terrarium, which are now standing, in our windowsill.  With sunflower seed paste we made birdfeeders, and we all did a beautiful job even tough we got very sticky.  At science we learned how the human eyeball works, and we made a volcano in a bottle using cold and warm water with red food color. At Music we sang songs about Tu'Shevat and showed how we can grow as a tree.

If any of you wish to do so, you can plant a tree in Israel through JNF and get a Trees for Israel Certificate @

Zoe was really happy when on Wednesday we finally made a new batch of play-dough.  Forrest made us a mushroom pizza, while he very nicely offered Raleigh, Ayala, Zoe and Talia a piece, they told him they weren't really into mushroom pizza!  Jonah's tomatoe pizza was a little bit better received.  Ayala was a princess and Henry was her prince, they made a cute pair walking hand in hand.  However, Henry told me not to take any photos!  Max and Owen have been making trains with Lego and discussed various ways of making them, and driving them around the classroom.  We started most of our days in the social hall (and are looking forward to starting outside again).  The girls and Forrest like to pile enormous amount of food on me and hope I'll eat it all.  Max, Henry, and Jonah like the new table with Lego.  Tyler runs between his favorite bike and his friends at the Lego table.  It is hard to make a choice sometimes.  Towards the end of our free playtime in the social hall, we clean up, and we really do a great job!  First it looks like a hurricane hit the place, and afterwards we even get praises from the Kof & Chatool classes.  After clean up we do our race to burn of some more energy, and Owen likes to help us count & yell out loud "Freeze".  Tomorrow, we have our Tu B'Shevat celebration at 11:30am.  Wednesday is the special Teddy Bear Lunch bear, which should be a blast.  There is Hebrew enrichment, Karate & Yoga this week.  Last Thursday all the girls were mainly dressed in pink, and all were going too yoga, it was just too cute too see (one would think it was all planned).

Best regards, Morah Bregt & Morah Julieth
